Extreme cold may impact the aftertreatment system heat management, which could impact the efficiency of your truck if not maintained properly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Follow these winter tips to ensure your trucks operate at peak performance all winter long: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Complete all applicable OEM factory and engine campaigns on the vehicle<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-718 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dealerfireblog.com\/allstatepeterbilt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/712\/2018\/02\/IMG_9770.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"359\" height=\"485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-ds.com\/blogs-media\/sites\/669\/2018\/02\/28094240\/IMG_9770.jpg 500w, https:\/\/cdn-ds.com\/blogs-media\/sites\/669\/2018\/02\/28094240\/IMG_9770-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clean the hydrocarbon fuel doser every 125,000 miles; if you are close to needing this maintenance, get it done for winter<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remove and clean the DOC and DPF filter<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the DEF dosing screen filter and in-line filter. If your truck has 150,000 miles or more, you should also have the DEF tank steam cleaned to remove debris build-up at the bottom of the tank<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perform EGR cooler flush if the vehicle requires more than 30% idle time<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace fuel filters. If you consistently see signs of black in the fuel\/water separator, put Killem in the fuel tanks to prevent algae buildup.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Replace the coolant filter<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check all electrical connections and routing specific to the engine, aftertreatment, and power of the vehicle; do not disconnect sensors during this inspection<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inspect air filters and replace them if necessary; check the integrity of air intake hoses and pipes (including all air intake and EGR)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Check battery charge status<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inspect engine belts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inspect integrity of exhaust pipes and joints; replace any questionable clamps<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inspect and test coolant for proper temperature protection levels<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resolve and clear all fault codes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are not currently running with an approved winter front or insulated DEF tank blanket, we highly recommend doing so<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ensure that all drivers have spare fuel filters, fuel tank conditioner or treatment, and anti-gel products with them while traveling<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regularly clean the cab, body, and undercarriage of your truck to get rid of road salts<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not only is it important to keep your trucks properly maintained, but to also ensure your drivers are prepared for any emergency situation.
