Peterbilt announces enhancements to new Model 579 EPIQ package

Peterbilt Model 579 EPIQ fuel economy improvement

The versatility of the Peterbilt Model 579 has helped the truck earn its place in the commercial market. The lightweight and aerodynamic design of the truck has helped the Model 579 earn the distinction of the most-efficient Class 8 model on the market. The 2018 version of the Model 579 will add to this reputation even more with a new EPIQ package. The Peterbilt Model EPIQ fuel economy improvement will continue to help this truck stand apart from the competition.

Model 579 EPIQ Package

The 2018 Model 579 EPIQ package will help improve the fuel economy of the truck by eight percent. The Model 579 EPIQ is available with either the PACCAR MX-13 or MX-11 engines, which each already deliver impressive fuel economy ratings. These two engines are also paired with the Fuller Advantage automated transmission. This transmission helps the engines produce a wide range of horsepower and torque ratings.

Both PACCAR engines reduce weight by around 50 pounds. This helps decrease the amount of service needed, and increases engine efficiency.

Another key feature adding to the fuel economy ratings of the Model 579 is the Predictive Cruise Control system that was debuted in 2017. Predictive Cruise Control utilizes the truck’s onboard maps along with information from the GPS to help save fuel economy when going up and down hills. The system can help improve fuel economy by up to three percent.
